Abstract
An adequate brain biopsy consists of approximately a 1-mm2 surface area and a full thickness plug of cerebral parenchyma containing cortex and white matter, generally 1.5 or 2 cm in length. This gives the pathologist between 1.30 and 1.45 cc of tissue.

“Hew down the bridge, Sir Consul, With all the speed ye may: I, with two more to help me, Will hold the foe in play. In yon strait path a thousand May well be stopped by three. Now who will stand on either hand, And keep the bridge with me?”
