Abstract
When discussing the biomechanics and some tribological aspects of total knee replacement (TKR), it makes sense to look at normal knee anatomy and function in order to understand the natural motions and forces about the knee joint. However it should be realized that a replaced knee may look like a normal knee on the outside but in fact it is very different from the normal knee. Additionally, the knee being replaced is itself not normal, but a knee changed by pathology.
