Zusammenfassung

Die in den letzten Jahren beobachtete weltweite deutliche Zunahme der malignen Melanome betrifft vor allem Erwachsene. Der Gipfel der Erkrankungshäufigkeit liegt zwischen dem 40. und 60. Lebensjahr. Als eine wahrscheinliche Ursache dafür wird die im Vergleich zu früheren Generationen viel stärkere UV-Exposition der jetzt Erwachsenen in der Kindheit und Jugend diskutiert [11]. In einigen Staaten scheint sich die Inzidenz allerdings zu stabilisieren [21]. In der Kindheit selbst können sich während dieser Altersphase solche tumorinduzierenden Faktoren naturgemäß noch kaum auswirken. Die Tumorentwicklung erfordert Zeit [28]. Dementsprechend treten maligne Melanome auch heute unterhalb des 20. Lebensjahres selten auf, sie machen ungefähr 1–3% aller Tumoren im Kindesalter und nur ungefähr 1% aller malignen Melanome aus. Nach dem Schrifttum hat ihre Inzidenz nicht zugenommen [3, 44].
