Abstract
As pointed out by Inman (1976), the major joints in the hindfoot work in conjunction with the ankle to provide normal gait. Fractures of the talus, calcaneus, and the navicular and cuboid bones frequently involve the ankle joints, and, as in other major intra-articular fractures, it is desirable to achieve stable anatomic fixation and early motion whenever possible.
