Zusammenfassung
Die Implantation eines Cochlea-Implantates (CI) hat sich inzwischen als Standardmethode zur Versorgung ertaubter und taubgeborener Kinder und Erwachsener etabliert. Die mit dem Cochlea-Implantat zu erreichenden Erfolge sind zumindest in Fachkreisen unumstritten; für viele interessierte Kliniken stellt sich daher häufig nur noch die Frage, welches Gerät verwendet werden soll. Seitens der Technik scheint es heute ebenfalls unumstritten zu sein, daß ein solches System über eine mehrkanalige, intracochleäre Elektrode und über eine transkutane Datenverbindung verfügen sollte. Entsprechend sind nahezu alle kommerziell vertriebenen Implantate mit diesen Eigenschaften ausgestattet.
