Zusammenfassung

Altern ist eine irreversible, zeitabhängige funktionelle Abnahme der Körperfunktionen. Die Lebensdauer wird nach Prognosen der WHO weltweit weiter steigen, doch nicht parallel dazu die Lebensqualität. Die gewonnenen Jahre werden demzufolge überwiegend in mäßiger oder schlechter Lebensqualität verbracht. Gesundheitserwartung und Lebenserwartung differieren also deutlich. „Anti-Aging“ beinhaltet eine präventive Medizin mit dem Ziel, Defizite auszugleichen durch optimale Ernährung, einen gesunden Bewegungsapparat, die Balance des Hormonprofils und eine ausreichende Versorgung mit antioxidativen Substanzen.
