Wright Maps: Second Steps

  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Rasch Analysis in the Human Sciences

Abstract

This chapter continues the discussion of Wright maps by considering two related issues in detail. First, the examination of person measures and item measures simultaneously is introduced. In particular, readers are presented with examples enabling them to interpret a person measure given the item measures. Following this discussion, the chapter moves on to plotting groups (e.g., male and female) and pre-/post-measures and how to interpret those measures in light of item measures. Readers learn how to express the specific differences between comparison groups by noting the items which fall between the comparison groups on the Wright map. The chapter finishes with a summary discussion between our two students, Keywords and Phrases, Quick Tips, Data Files, References, and Additional Readings. As in almost all chapters, sample analyses are used to reinforce the chapter topic.
