Abstract

Reading this book will show how political decisions have influenced hospitals and their A&E departments ever since the formation of the NHS. However most of the changes occurred with the consent of the medical profession and often as a result of reports written by members of the profession. For doctors and nurses working in A&E departments, these changes did not have much influence on the day-to-day working of departments.
