Abstract

In this final chapter we draw together the issues we have raised in the book and look ahead to the next millennium and, in a speculative fashion, suggest some of the issues that are likely to face the health sector. We start by examining some of the possible trends in the health sector. Speculation is, of course, a risky activity. We engage in it here without any sense that the projections are either inevitable or universal. It is instead intended to provide scenarios to stimulate country-based analysis Finally, we set out a number of key issues that we suggest need consideration by policymakers from all organizations concerned with the health sector.
