Zusammenfassung

Suizidales Verhalten weist eine unscharfe Grenze zu selbstschädigenden Verhaltensweisen auf. So wird von manchen Autoren das suizidale Verhalten mit stufenlosen Übergängen zu selbstverletzenden Verhaltensweisen und – gegen die persönliche Gesundheit gerichteten – Risikoverhaltensweisen definiert (Skegg 2005). Über die spezifische Stellung der Selbstverletzung im Rahmen von Suizidalität soll später noch genauer reflektiert werden. So können selbstverletzende Verhaltensweisen zur Kompensation von drängenden Suizidideen und Suizidimpulsen eingesetzt werden und damit die suizidale Intention von Betroffenen verringern.
