Pitfalls in Surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Abstract

Surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome is considered safe, simple, and highly successful. Some surgeons therefore proceed directly and cut the transverse carpal ligament in patients with pain and paresthesias in the hand and reserve preoperative electrophysiological investigations at most for those with questionable symptoms.
