Summary
To avoid aseptic loosening of the prosthesis due to cement fracture a self-locking ceramic hip prosthesis with “weight-bearing ribs” was developed with anchorage by the biomechanical principle of surface increase and pressure reduction. Exposure of technology, especially alumina ceramic “Biolox” and the new metal alloy “Endocast”, animal experience, operative technique and clinical experience of 4 1/2 years with statistics. Suitable especially for younger people.
