Summary
A disease was observed in 3 to 7 weeks old chickens in Nigeria between April 1969 and July1971; seven outbreaks on eleven farms containing20,000 chickens were recorded. The mortality was in the region of 12·5 per cent with a morbidity rate of up to60 per cent. From the clinical signs, epidemiology, pathology and microbiology of the disease described it would appear that Infectious bursal or Gumboro disease occurs in Nigeria.

Il s'agit d'une maladie observée chez des poulets de 3 à 7 semaines en Nigeria, entre le mois d'Avril 1969 et le mois de Juillet 1971; 7 foyers furent signalés dans 11 élevages groupant environ 20.000 poulets. Le taux de mortalité atteignait dans la région 12 5 p. 100 tandis que celui de la mortalité s'élevait jusqu'à 60 p. 100. Les symptômes, l'epidémiologie, la pathologie et la microbiologie de la maladie décrite sembleraient indiquer que la maladie de Gumboro (ou bursite infectieuse) sévit en Nigeria.

Se observo una enfermedad en pollos entre 3 y 7 semanas de edad en Nigeria entre Abril 1969 y Julio 1971; se reportaron siete brotes en once granjas conteniendo 20,000 pollos. La mortalidad estaba en la region de 12.5 por ciento con una morbilidad de hasta el 60 por ciento. A juzgar por los sintomas clinicos, epidemiologia, patologia, y microbiologia de la enfermedad descrita, pareceria que la Infeccion bursal o Enfermedad de Gumboro ocurre en Nigeria.
