Zusammenfassung
Eine arterielle Hypertonie (Bluthochdruck) ist definiert als anhaltende Erhöhung des Blutdruckes auf Werte von mindestens 140 mmHg systolisch und/oder 90 mmHg diastolisch (Committee 2003; Williams et al. 2004). Ca. 20 % der Gesamtbevölkerung weisen erhöhte Blutdruckwerte auf, ab dem 50. Lebensjahr sogar jeder Zweite.
