Subretinal Fibrosis

  • Chapter
Intraocular Inflammation

Abstract

Subretinal fibrosis is defined as the development of either band-like or plaque-like areas of fibrosis underneath the retina due to choroidal neovascularization (CNV) or proliferation of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells and Müller cells. Ophthalmoscopically, it appears white with variable levels of pigmentation and occurs in a number of posterior uveitis and panuveitis conditions.
