Abstract
Radiographs taken of the chronically unstable knee while the patient bears full body weight on the affected limb (monopodal weight-bearing films) are of interest in that they provide diagnostic and prognostic information on the joint as a function of several factors: the limb morphotype on the frontal and sagittal planes, muscular equilibrium, body weight, and body size. It is well known that a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) can have different functional and radiographic consequences in different individuals. Monopodal weight-bearing radiographs often provide the key to understanding these differences.
