Electron microscope findings in the jejunal mucosa of patients with psoriasis

Summary

In ten patients with psoriasis an enzymatic and light microscopyic study of the jejunal mucosa was made. The findings were correlated with the results of electron microscopic examination of jejunal biopsy specimens.

All biopsies, including those showing normal histological appearances, revealed pathological ultrastructural changes of the epithelial cells. The interpretation of these findings is unsatisfactory. There is no significant correlation between the severity of the skin disease and the severity of the mucosal changes in the jejunum.

Zusammenfassung

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit werden die lichtmikroskopischen, biochemischen und elektronenmikroskopischen Befunde der Jejunumschleimhaut von Patienten mit Psoriasis vulgaris mitgeteilt. Bei allen Patienten konnten verschiedene feinstrukturelle Befunde erhoben werden. Es zeigte sich, daß ein exakter Zusammenhang zwischen der Schwere der Hauterkrankungen und dem Ausmaß der Schleimhautalterationen nicht gefunden werden konnte.

Die Bedeutung der feinstrukturellen Veränderungen an der Jejunum mucosa wird diskutiert.
