Summary
The posterior tuber or post-infundibular eminence contains a vasculary system made up of a superficial network and a deep network. Both are drained towards the general circulatory system and towards the hypophysialportal system. Thus it appears that the hypophysial-portal system extends beyond and behind the hypophysis and is directly linked to the tuber. Furthermore, the primary plexus of the portal system which is situated in the lateral and anterior median eminence, anastomoses extensively with the vessels in the tuber.
