Fox, a sociologist, principally of medicine, is the Annenberg Professor Emerita of the Social Sciences, a Senior Fellow at the Center for Bioethics, and a member of the Affiliated Faculty of the Solomon Asch Center for the Study of Ethnopolitical Conflict at the University of Pennsylvnia. She is also a Research Associate at the Refugee Studies Centre, Queen Elizabeth House, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
