Abstract
Banks and Helle1 have reported that stimulation of the isolated bovine adrenal gland, during retrograde perfusion, releases not only catecholamines but also a soluble protein present in the chromaffin granules; this finding has since been confirmed2,3. We propose the term “chromogranin(s)” as suitable for the soluble protein fractions of the chromaffin granules of the adrenal medulla.
