Acetate and Bicarbonate in the Correction of Uraemic Acidosis

    Abstract

    Uraemic acidosis was readily corrected by the infusion of sodium acetate solution, which gave comparable results to equivalent amounts of sodium bicarbonate infusion. Preliminary data suggest that this was true even in severe liver disease.
