Zusammenfassung

„Intensive care unit acquired weakness (ICUAW)“ stellt eine häufige und ernste Komplikation einer intensivmedizinischen Behandlung dar. Dabei können die Critical-illness-Polyneuropathie (CIP) und -Myopathie (CIM) unterschieden werden. Leitsymptom ist eine progrediente Tetraparese, die das Weaning erschwert, bereits früh im Krankheitsverlauf auftreten kann und häufig mehrere Monate nach dem Intensivaufenthalt nachzuweisen ist. Die Pathophysiologie ist der ICUAW ist multifaktoriell und komplex. Mögliche Behandlungsansätze stellen die schnelle und konsequente Behandlung der Multiorgandysfunktion, Kontrolle des Glukosestoffwechsels sowie frühe und intensive Physiotherapie dar. Die Übersichtsarbeit diskutiert Inzidenz, Pathophysiologie, Diagnostik und Prognose der ICUAW.
