Ein Überblick

Zusammenfassung

Dengue-Virus(DENV)-Infektionen haben in den letzten 50 Jahren in qualitativer und quantitativer Hinsicht dramatisch an Bedeutung gewonnen. Fast die Hälfte der Weltbevölkerung ist durch Dengue-Viren unmittelbar gefährdet. Insbesondere die in tropischen und subtropischen Regionen auftretende Kozirkulation der 4 Serotypen DENV-1 bis DENV-4 wird für die weltweite Zunahme lebensbedrohlicher Krankheitsverläufe verantwortlich gemacht. Kausale Behandlungsmöglichkeiten gibt es nicht. Eine wirksame tetravalente Schutzimpfung steht noch nicht zur Verfügung, einige vielversprechende Vakzinekandidaten befinden sich jedoch in klinischer Erprobung. Da sich das Dengue-Fieber auch in vielen Ländern, die zu den bevorzugten Reisezielen deutscher Staatsbürger gehören, in immer häufiger auftretenden Epidemien präsentiert, empfiehlt sich die Beschäftigung mit dem Krankheitsbild, den diagnostischen und therapeutischen Möglichkeiten sowie den epidemiologischen Zusammenhängen v. a. für Ärzte, die in der Reisemedizin tätig sind oder die Berufstätige in den entsprechenden Risikogebieten betriebsmedizinisch betreuen.
