Chronische Obstipation – Definition, Diagnostik und Therapie

Zusammenfassung

Chronische Obstipation ist ein häufiges Leiden, das sich durch Entleerungsschwierigkeiten und/oder unregelmäßigen Stuhlgang auszeichnet. Sie tritt häufiger bei älteren Menschen und Frauen auf als bei jungen und männlichen Patienten. Es handelt sich nicht um eine eigenständige Erkrankung, sondern eher um das Symptom eines zugrunde liegenden pathologischen Zustands. An der Pathogenese sind verschiedene Faktoren beteiligt, von der genetischen Veranlagung über das persönliche Verhalten und den sozioökonomischen Status bis hin zur Darmmotilität und -absorption sowie biologischen und pharmakologischen Aspekten. Die Diagnose basiert auf Anamnese und klinischer Untersuchung, gegebenenfalls ergänzt um Labor- sowie endoskopische und/oder radiologische Untersuchungen. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, das Wissen über Entstehung und Entwicklung der chronischen Obstipation auf den neuesten Stand zu bringen sowie die Diagnosemöglichkeiten und besten verfügbaren Behandlungsmethoden zu beschreiben.
