I have read with interest a report by Barbagelata et al., who examined the cardiovascular risk in 300 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) [
1]. Patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of < 60 ml/min/1.73 m
2 who were not undergoing hemodialysis were included in the analysis. In total, 52% patients received statins. More than 90% patients who were not treated with lipid-lowering treatment were eligible for statin therapy. Only 10% patients with cardiovascular risk achieved the suggested lipid goals. I present some information regarding their study, which would improve the understanding of the results. …
