Red meat consumption and biological markers of metabolic disorders

I read the article by Hobbs-Grimmer et al. [
1], in which the authors conducted a cross sectional study on the association between types of red meat and physical and biological markers of cardio–metabolic diseases. Regarding biological markers, higher processed red meat (PRM) consumption in men was associated with significantly higher plasma ferritin concentration. In contrast, higher PRM consumption in women was associated with significantly higher plasma total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, HbA1c. These significances were not observed for red meat (RM) consumption. Although there is a difficulty of specifying sex difference on the association, I present some information regarding their study. …
