Das linke Vorhofohr („left atrial appendage“, LAA) ist laut Herzspezialisten das „most lethal human attachment“ [7]. Da gemäß früherer Studien 90 % der Embolien bei Schlaganfall aus dem LAA kommen sollen, macht der LAA-Verschluss pathophysiologisch konzeptionell aus primär- wie sekundärpräventiver Sicht Sinn, allerdings wirklich nur dann, wenn eine orale Antikoagulation nicht infrage kommt, da alleine 10 % der Emboliequellen durch die Therapie nicht abgedeckt sind. …
