Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that imposes significant financial burden. In a cost-analysis of surgical cases billed 4/2002–3/2013, HS patients had nearly three times greater treatment costs than age-and sex-matched controls before and after surgery [
1]. HS patients more frequently utilized emergency department (ED) services relative to psoriasis patients in a cohort cost-identification study assessing all-cause utilization outpatient costs (7.4 vs. 4.2%,
