Verletzungen des Urogenitaltraktes sind beim polytraumatisierten Patienten in 5–10 % der Fälle und damit relativ häufig anzutreffen. Hierbei stehen die Nierenverletzungen zahlenmäßig im Vordergrund, gefolgt von Verletzungen der Blase oder der Urethra. Letztere treten vor allem im Zusammenhang mit Beckenfrakturen auf. Die Makrohämaturie ist das klassische Leitsymptom für Verletzungen des Urogenitaltraktes. Daher sollte bei der ersten orientierenden Untersuchung eines Polytraumas/Schwerverletzten der Meatus urethrae externus und ggf. ein bereits einliegender Blasenkatheter auf Blut hin inspiziert werden (S3-Leitlinie Polytrauma/Schwerverletzten-Behandlung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Unfallchirugie (DGU), Stand 7/2016, AWMF Register-Nr. 012/019).
