A study conducted in India showed that sublingual immunotherapy is safe during pregnancy even when initiated for the first time. A total of 155 patients received sublingual immunotherapy with either house dust mite (Dermatophagoides farinae) or a mixture of ≤ 5 allergens during 185 pregnancies - of these patients, 24 had received sublingual immunotherapy for the first time during their pregnancy. After 6 years of follow-up, the researchers reported a lower incidence of pregnancy complications, compared with both control groups and existing data for the general population. …
