Die akute Appendizitis ist die häufigste akute abdominelle Erkrankung, die zu einer Operation führt. Das Lebenszeitrisiko in der Bevölkerung beträgt zirka 8 % und in Deutschland werden jedes Jahr mehr als 100.000 Appendektomien durchgeführt. Dieser Artikel gibt einen Überblick zum aktuellen Krankheitsverständnis und Therapiekonzepte. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Diskussion der nicht operativen Therapie der unkomplizierten Appendizitis. …
