A 78-year-old man developed gastrointestinal intolerance during treatment with cotrimoxazole for Salmonella arizonae bacteraemia. The man was diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica, hypo-gastric artery aneurysms and Salmonella arizonae bacteraemia. He underwent an endovascular repair and stent placement. He was discharged on ceftriaxone and was subsequently transitioned to cotrimoxazole [trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole; route and dosage not stated]. However, due to the development of gastrointestinal intolerance, cotrimoxazole was changed to azithromycin [duration of treatment to reaction onset and outcome not stated] at six weeks of therapy. …
