Health Canada has issued an advisory noting that non-prescription pain relief products containing codeine should not be used by patients <18 years of age. Such products were previously not recommended for patients <12 years of age. Review of available information revealed that using opioids at younger ages may contribute to the development of substance abuse later in life. …
