Two women aged 48 and 74 years, respectively, developed skin eruptions during treatment with modafinil [dosages and therapeutic indications not stated]. The younger woman developed pruritus affecting her face, eyes and skin, and an erythematous rash 3 days after starting modafinil. The older woman developed an urticarial rash 2 months after commencing modafinil. For both women, the skin reactions resolved following modafinil discontinuation and recurred on rechallenge. For one woman, rechallenge lead to a more severe skin reaction with ecchymosis and vasculitis despite administration of a 'much reduced' dose. …
