Zusammenfassung

Die Ganzkörperkältetherapie (GKKT) ist eine Kälteanwendung mit Temperaturen von -60°C bis -180°C. Sie wurde erstmals 1980 von Yamauchi in Japan zur Behandlung der rheumatoiden Arthritis eingesetzt. In Deutschland kam dieses Therapieverfahren erstmals 1984 zur Anwendung. Am häufigsten wird die GKKT bei chronisch-entzündlichen Gelenkerkrankungen wie der rheumatoiden Arthritis und der Spondylitis ankylosans sowie beim Fibromyalgiesyndrom, bei chronischen Schmerzen, Wirbelsäulenleiden, Depressionen und im Sport angewendet.
