In a retrospective study of 30 paediatric patients treated with peramivir, a 1-year-old infant [sex not stated] was identified. The infant was admitted with type B influenza and received fluids and an IV infusion of peramivir 10 mg/kg over 15-30 minutes. Five days later, the infant’s AST level had increased from 74 IU/L to 163 IU/L, while ALT levels had risen from 33 IU/L to 114 IU/L. There were no subjective symptoms, and 1 week later, the infant recovered without treatment.Author CommentWe could not determine whether this AST and ALT change was due to peramivir or due to the influenza itself. …
