Zusammenfassung

Suizidgefährdete PatientInnen stellen eine der größten Herausforderungen für unser psychiatrisches/psychotherapeutisches Handeln dar. Aufgrund der weiterhin nicht vorhandenen verlässlichen Prädiktoren, der raschen Veränderbarkeit suizidalen Erlebens sowie der Furcht vor juristischen Konsequenzen im Falle eines PatientInnensuizides ist der Umgang mit suizidalen PatientInnen häufig von Unsicherheit geprägt. Das folgende Kapitel möchte über Suizidalität im Rahmen psychischer, insbesondere affektiver Erkrankungen informieren sowie Wissen über Entstehung, Prävention und die therapeutischen Möglichkeiten in Klinik und Praxis vermitteln und so zu einem sicheren Umgang mit diesem Thema führen.
