Previous data have demonstrated racial/ethnic disparities in both health care and cancer treatment.
1 More recently, increased interested has been focused on the impact that site of care may have on health equity. Surgical care for most minority patients is concentrated at a relatively small number of facilities.
1 Undergoing treatment at minority-serving hospitals (MSHs) may be responsible for sources of variations in cancer care and outcomes. To this point, treatment at MSHs has been associated with worse outcomes, increased procedural complications, and higher rates of readmission.
2‐4 In turn, these facilities may have comparatively greater health care expenditures, resulting in disparate costs for populations of patients already at risk. …
