Unter dyspeptischen Beschwerden leiden bis zu 20 % der Bevölkerung. Bei 75 % dieser Patienten liegt eine funktionelle Dyspepsie vor, für die mit üblichen diagnostischen Verfahren keine organischen, systemischen oder metabolischen Ursachen der Beschwerden gefunden werden können.
