India is committed to put in all possible measures to make it tuberculosis (TB) free by the year 2025 as announced by the Honorable Prime Minister of India. This is 5 y, before the deadline set by the UN. The National Strategic Plan for TB elimination has been launched, backed by a historic funding of over 12,000 crore rupees for the next 3 y. It aims to provide access to quality diagnosis, treatment, and support for every TB patient. The new strategic plan adopts a multi-pronged approach. The aim is to ‘Detect’ all TB patients, ‘Treat’ all patients irrespective of where they seek care, ‘Prevent’ emergence of TB in susceptible population groups and ‘Build’ empowered institutions and human resources to streamline implementation. …
