Gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) is an uncommon mesenchymal tumour located throughout the gastrointestinal tract. GISTs are commonly found in the stomach (60–70 %), followed by the small intestine (20–25 %); only 5 % of all GISTs originate in the rectum [
