A 72-year-old woman was referred with an itchy and impetiginised papulovesicular dermatitis on her scalp, face and ears that had been developing for several days. She had been using 'Kavel anti-hair loss lotion' topically for 13 years to treat alopecia [dosage not stated]. Her symptoms completely resolved following treatment with clobetasol, prednisone, antihistamines and antibiotics. An open test on her forearm and a patch test on her back using 'Kavel anti-hair loss lotion' were both positive (++). Subsequent testing with the individual ingredients of the lotion showed a positive reaction (++++) with quinine hydrochloride 1% aq. at 48 and 96 hours. She avoided further contact with the lotion and has remained asymptomatic. …
