Zusammenfassung

Die obstruktive Schlafapnoe (OSA) kann im Rahmen einer anderweitigen Grunderkrankung auftreten. Hierbei handelt es sich v. a. um angeborene pädiatrische Syndrome (z. B. Down-Syndrom, Marfan-Syndrom, Achondroplasie), endokrinologische Erkrankungen (z. B. Hypothyreose, Akromegalie) und HNO-Erkrankungen (z. B. Tonsillenhypertrophie und Kopf-Hals-Tumoren). Die Prävalenz der OSA bei diesen Erkrankungen ist i. Allg. recht hoch, ein generelles Screening auf schlafbezogene Atmungsstörungen wird aber nicht empfohlen. Durch eine Therapie der Grunderkrankung kann in einigen Fällen die OSA gebessert oder sogar geheilt werden, ansonsten ist auch hier die CPAP-Therapie („continuous positive airway pressure“) der Goldstandard in der Behandlung.
