Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) status is an important prognostic indicator for determining candidacy for adjuvant therapy in patients with melanoma, but is best utilized in patients with a high pretest probability of regional metastasis.
1 Our study pooled data from the National Cancer Database (NCDB; 2004–2015) and the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results [SEER] database (2000–2017) to develop and internally validate a nomogram to predict SLNB positivity in melanoma.
2 This nomogram was externally validated using data from a large tertiary referral center, and the model was found to be comparable in accuracy to other published clinicopathologic nomograms.
