Abstract
The diagnosis of cholecystocolonic fistula (CCF) is challenging due to the rarity of the disease and non-specific symptoms. However, a high index of suspicion of CCF necessitates appropriate investigations in patients with chronic diarrhea associated with aerobilia. Currently, no single best imaging modality exists to detect CCF in terms of diagnostic yield. This report demonstrated the feasibility of diagnosing CCF by barium enema (BE). The presence of barium contrast in the biliary tree and gallbladder following a BE study was a unique finding that led to the diagnosis of CCF. Hence, a BE study may have an important role in the diagnosis of suspected CCF.
