We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Asensio-Sanchez for sharing his thoughts and concerns regarding our manuscript “Blood neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a risk factor in treatment for retinopathy of prematurity.” We selected explanatory variables, including the blood neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) collected within 24 h, gestational age, birth weight, maternal infection or clinical chorioamnionitis, and corticosteroid use by the mother. These variables were identified as potential risk factors for treating retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) [
