Historically, surgical, anesthetic, and perioperative services have been neglected in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by many, including global health funding organizations and major donors.
1 Several ethical dilemmas surround this neglect, and this editorial aims to explain why allowing the perpetuation of this neglect in LMICs represents an ethically unacceptable tenet.
