In May 2012, Health Canada approved the use of mesenchymal stromal cells for the treatment of severe pediatric graft-versus-host disease,1 making Canada the first country in the world to approve a stem cell therapy. Um die Langzeitfolgen eines Delirs bei kritisch Kranken zu mildern, wird vielerorts auf eine Akuttherapie mit Antipsychotika gesetzt. Eine US-amerikanische Forschungsgruppe äußert jetzt erhebliche Vorbehalte gegen dieses Vorgehen. Denn es gibt neue Daten zum Langzeiteffekt von Haloperidol bzw. Ziprasidon versus Placebo.
