6. Adoleszenz – Schritt für Schritt ins Erwachsenenleben

Zusammenfassung

Die Adoleszenz ist durch umfangreiche biologische, psychologische und soziale Veränderungen charakterisiert. Der Organismus erfährt dabei einen letzten großen Entwicklungsschub. Der hormonell ausgelöste Reifungsprozess bewirkt einen Wachstumsspurt, einen Gestaltwandel und die sexuelle Reife. Auch zeigt sich eine Umgestaltung des Gehirns, die mit einem fundamentalen Wandel im Denken, Fühlen und Verhalten der Jugendlichen einhergeht. Dieser ermöglicht ihnen, sich von ihren Eltern abzulösen und ein eigenständiges, selbstverantwortliches Leben zu führen. Dafür gehen sie tiefgreifende Bindungen mit anderen Menschen ein, besonders mit Gleichaltrigen. Auch beschäftigen sich Adoleszente zunehmend mit ihrem zukünftigen Leben, vor allem mit ihren schulischen und beruflichen Perspektiven. Sie suchen dabei ihre eigene Identität und entwickeln moralische Werte sowie ein Normensystem. Eine Wissensgrundlage über die verschiedenen Entwicklungsaufgaben von Jugendlichen kann dabei helfen, das Verhalten von Adoleszenten besser einzuordnen und zu verstehen.
