Zusammenfassung

Die zahnärztliche Lokalanästhesie zählt sicherlich zu den wichtigsten Fortschritten in der Zahnmedizin und stellt zugleich eine der häufigsten ausgeübten Tätigkeiten eines Zahnarztes dar. Einzig durch die Möglichkeit der Schmerzausschaltung wurden viele heutige Behandlungskonzepte erst ermöglicht. Für eine wirkungsvolle Anästhesie und schmerzfreie Behandlung sind allerdings detaillierte Kenntnisse über die Anatomie von zentraler Bedeutung. Das Fachwissen über das Anästhetikum, aber auch die Ursachen eines möglichen Misserfolgs sind wichtige Faktoren für eine erfolgreiche schmerzfreie Behandlung des Patienten. In der vorliegenden Übersichtsarbeit werden die verschiedenen Verfahren der Leitungsanästhesie dargestellt. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt in der Beschreibung der anatomischen Details, um notwendige Techniken der Leitungsanästhesie besser anwenden zu können. Der Artikel vermittelt darüber hinaus einen Überblick über mögliche Gründe eines Misserfolgs bei der Leitungsanästhesie des N. alveolaris inferior.
